Eating disorders have numerous effects on those who suffer. The effects can be divided into mental, spiritual and physical.
The effects be associated with different mental levels of anxiety (moderate to very severe), depression and difficulty concentrating on tasks, low duration of attention, impulsivity and apathy or distortion of thoughts.
One of the specific effects of eating disorders is a distorted picture of your body when people see a wrong picture of themselves and others. This mental problem called "broken eye syndrome".
This is when the patient sees in the mirror much bigger reflection of themselves, then they really are. And when they look at other people, judged according to the weight of the person and see the body. Other people may also appear larger to them then the person really is.
Spiritual effects of disorders feeding may be associated with loss of identity, or perception, the inability to maintain healthy relationships with people and the loss strategies coping.
Eating disorders become a way see themselves suffering. When you ask someone: "Please describe himself. Who are you? And what to do? "The patient describes his / her eating disorder and how they feel about food and other things related to food or their food habits. This means that the eating disorder substitutes his vision completely and become unable to relate with the other things food and then eat.
Anorexic-bulimics also lose their ability to be close or intimate with people. No can connect to another human being on a spiritual level, because his spirit (soul) is taken up by food and feelings distorted. Many patients do not even feel angry at relationship with the opposite sex, or some other people.
Some even say, "My best friend is always here with me." With " my best friend "to mean the eating disorder.
Coping strategies to daily stress disappear or decrease significantly and replaced with food and abnormal feelings about food and eating. For example, a bulimic response to stress, boredom or uncomfortable feelings that a increased binging-purging cycles of behavior.
The Anorexics starve themselves and exercise more than usual in connection with the same feelings.
Eating disorders effect on a body can be distinguished by the organs being affected. Kidney damage often occurs especially in cases of long standing. The heart can slow their pace or become irregular, and may even stop resulting in death in severe cases of anorexia-bulimia.
Teeth get eroded. The skin becomes dry, fragile and old looking. The bones lose their density that is easily broken bones. System immune deteriorates making a person become susceptible to many infections and other diseases.
